Postdoctoral Position on The Collective Uses Of The Individual Rigth Of Access To Personal Data H/F - 93

To do so, and in collaboration with civil society organizations, DATARightswill first preciselyestablish applicable rulesregarding the right of access to personal data, based on the latest case law, and evaluate how theserules are implemented by data controllers. A fieldstudywillthenbeconducted to document the concretesteps and potentialdifficultiesinvolved in filingaccessrequests by a panel of research participants. The retrieved data maybevoluntarilyshared, in full compliance with the GDPR, to collectivelyanalyzetheir structure and potential uses -both for the data subjectsthemselves and for academicresearch.

At a time when new researchaccessprocedures are beingdevelopedunder the EuropeanUnion's Digital Services Act (DSA), thisprojectseeks to develop qualitative and quantitative researchmethodsthatmake use of datasetsretrievedfrom platforms, whileaccounting for legal and ethical obligations related to data protection.

The selected candidate isexpected to propose an original researchfield, on a topic of theirchoice, thatmakes use of the collective exercise of the right of access for researchpurposes.
- Tasks to BE performed

The postdoctoral researcherwillbeexpected to contribute to the followingtasks :
· He/she will help in developing the use of the right of access to personal data as a researchmethod in the social sciences, based on a case study of theirownchoosing,

· Participate in participatoryresearch workshops (as part of open science events) and contribute to theirorganisation,

· Conduct, transcribe and help analyse qualitative interviews,

· Contribute to the organisation of the DATARightsseminar as well as to the production of deliverables, such as reports and academic papers.
- Expected results

The postdoctoral researcherwillcontribute to the production of academic publications and presentations on the uses and non-uses of the right of access to personal data, and willplay an active role in disseminating the results of the DATARightsproject.
